i have about a 3.6-3.7 gpa, im a 4 year 3 sport varsity athlete and will hold the captain position in all 3 my senior year, ive taken 5 ap classes and 2 college level french classes, im in the top 20% of my class. i havent yet taken the sats but im assuming i will do well on them and im taking prep classes. what is the likeliness of me getting into these schools?

Assuming you do well on your SATs, I'd say they're almost all within your reach. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 should be safeties or targets. Yale and Dartmouth will be reaches for you, unless they want you for your athletics–there are simply too many people for too few spots, and you're not the top of the top when it comes to academics. Boston College is likely a more realistic reach for you.

Good luck. I'd focus on finding some more target schools–ones that fit your grades, class rank, assumed SAT scores, and, most importantly, your interests.

yea, I was told by a friend that a college in one of those states was really good in science, but i cant remember.

University of Utah has one of the best science programs in the western United States–I don't know about Ohio, sorry.

Can I please have a list of southern california colleges? The best answer would ideally be ones that are good for journalism and English Literature. Thanks!

I am interested in becoming a licensed child care provider and/or nursery school director. I am currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program at Southern Maine Community College, however I know that a degree is NOT required to start your own center. I have recieved some paperwork in the mail, however would like to hear from anyone that has gone this route (meaning getting a license without a degree) and how its been, what the process is, and so on. Any information would be extremly helpful!

Call directory assistance and ask for the listing of Berea College and then specify that you want the registrar's office. This is funny but I have two sisters who graduated from this college. It is a great college and has beautiful grounds.

Just curious to know if our school is known to colleges as top in the nation when they see our college apps. And is getting a 3.4-3.5 with a 27 on ACT or/and 1730 on SAT enough to get into Purdue or UW Madison. Note: I do many extracurricular Activities!

Within Hawaii, Iolani is absolutely well-known to colleges! I’ve lived in Hawaii my whole life and know for a fact that Iolani and Punahou offer the highest level of education in the state. College recruiters are aware of the level of academic talent within your school and know that the school policy is to institute a quota on the amount of A’s and B’s that can be handed out. With that being said, your 3.5 is an amazing GPA. I would say you have a great chance to get in to either of those colleges.

I graduated from Maryknoll with a 3.8 and 1250 SAT score. I was able to get in to Santa Clara, which if you look at their incoming class statistics, is a tough school to get in to. Good luck!

10/26/08: BROOMS UP!

The 2nd Annual Quidditch World Cup was held on the Middlebury College campus this weekend. Teams came from across the country (and even from Canada) to compete for the prestigious title.

Whether you come to it for your Harry Potter fix or treat it as a legitimate sport, quidditch is a jolly good time for all.

College Football BYU Cougers at Utah Utes (-7.5) (6PM ET) (The Mountain)

TCU played Utah a few weeks back and lost in the closing seconds at Utah . TCU had great field position most of the game and their kicking game failed them along with quarterback Andy Dalton. Senior quarterback Max Hall will be the difference in this game to keep the Cougars within a touchdown of Utah. Hall is hitting on over 70% of his passes for nearly 9 yards per completion. Also BYU has an accurate kicker who has made his last 6. BYU has some beef in their backfield with Unga and Vakapuna who are tough to bring down and fight very hard for yardage. BYUs offensive line sports 4 seniors who are facing an undersized Utah defensive line, which helps supports our cause for the underdog in this rivalry game. Take the points here. Take BYU +7 ½.
