Does anyone know what a Big Red, the Western Kentucky college mascot, exactly is?
it's a giant red blob that looks like Grimace from the McDonald's commercial
No, that thing is scary
How many colleges should we have backed up?
I know we always need to have a backup for colleges in case our first choice did not get us in. How many should we have at least?
I am actually a Freshman in high school right now, but I have been interested in becoming a pharmacist (since 4th grade) at Butler for a long time, and my backup is Purdue University and Kentucky University. Would this probably be good enough if I am certain I am well-prepared?
I just wanted to say thanks to all your responses. I am actually hoping to do my best all through high school such as I did in jr. high, but of course, the challenge is greater. I am willing to take the risk of Purdue and Butler even though it is very competitive. As long as I am doing it because I enjoy learning science and math including my wish to fulfill my dreams, I know I can do it!
Most pharmacy schools do not accept students directly from high school. Midwestern 6 year programs, which I know of, are Drake, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and Ohio Northern University. You need to have stellar grades and ACT scores to be accepted.
Purdue and Kentucky are 4 year programs, and you can't be accepted until you've completed at least 2 years of college.
Other local 4 year colleges: Toledo, OSU (requires bachelors), University of Illinois at Chicago, Midwestern, Southern Illinois U Edwardsville, University of Wisconsin at Madison, and University of Iowa.

Why do hardly any colleges or universities offer ASL as a language, let alone a minor or major?
Im looking around at colleges and hardly any have a sign language program. I don't get this, since ASLis the most used language in the US after english and spanish, and some colleges have minors in greek. Some places don't even accept it as a foreign language credit. The only places that have majors or minors are in indiana and kentucky and ohio, and im on the east coast.
Why?
To be honest, I don't know why it's not at many colleges like Spanish. I could only guess it's because it's not in high demand for a major in it. Like myself, I want to major in Korean I can all the colleges offering a major in it on one hand.
I went to search for ASL majors and there are some on the east coast.
Gallaudet University (Washington DC)
Gardner-Webb University (Boiling Springs, NC)
Keuka College (Keuka Park, NY)
Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, New York) has a major ASL-English Interpretation not just ASL.
Good luck!
Centre College: Personal education. Extraordinary success.
After winning an on-campus film contest, Centre College found that the work of former student Adam Brown ‘07 resonated with the community so well the film should be released publicly. They encouraged Brown to find more professors to contribute and placed this new extended version in a CD mailer to prospective students beginning in 2007.
The film features former Centre student, Ashley Dickens Brown ‘08, in the role of “Centre Student” as well as a whole cast of Centre professors who were all more than willing to show the lighter side of Centre College’s claim to fame: Personal education which gives way to extraordinary success.

What team used to be in the Independants in College Football after Western Kentucky moved in?
Not sure I understand what the question is, but do you mean Temple Owls maybe.
With Garder-Webb winning at #20 Kentucky, could the college basketball season be like the football season?
U know, full of upsets? Appalachian State pulled it off at #5 Michigan in week 1, and look how they cursed the league. Could basketball be the same way?
let me be the first to sign the petition to remove UK's basketball program from the SEC… they are now the embarrassment to the league in two sports (football and mens basketball).
i suggest we trade them into the MEAC for a box of rocks and three sticks of juicy fruit gum.
this isn't a good start for billy gillespie and crew…. and to think, UK fans were tough on tubby just because of his demeaner (and something else which i'll leave out right now)
