he has to stay in southern california so…any suggestions?
USC hands down has the best program. UCLA would be second, perhaps Cal Arts if he is looking for a conservatory-style education, with everyone else following that.

Pet Orphans of Southern California – Tour & Information (Brief Version)
Pet Orphans of Southern California is one of the oldest active HUMANE ORGANIZATIONS in the Greater Los Angeles area with a private shelter. At our shelter facility located in Van Nuys, California, an average of 60 dogs and 30 cats are housed until they can be placed with new guardians. Pet Orphans has facilitated adoptions for thousands of cats and dogs since our inception in 1973. The majority of the dogs and cats at Pet Orphans have been transferred from local city and county shelters and are anxiously awaiting a new home.
Please help all of our dog and cat pet orphans by volunteering at or donating to our rescue shelter and rescue causes.

What universities and colleges are available in the Southern California area?
I just want somewhere warm and by the beach. Preferably not a school that is incredibly picky about admissions; I am a Oregon transfer student with a 3.7 college GPA.
CSU Channel Islands. It's beautiful here. CSU's are cheaper than other schools and not nearly as picky on admissions.
USC is overpriced and harder to get in to.
Pepperdine is beautiful but also extremely expensive.
CSU Channel Islands is a 5 minute drive from the beach and you're far enough north of L.A. that you don't deal with the traffic or pollution.
What are the best colleges to attend in Southern California if you want to become a teacher?
U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges",
Nice community colleges in Southern California?
I live in Nor Cal now, and in college, but would like to move somewhere new. I am 19 years old, have a stable and transferable job, but need to pick a new area to settle in-one that preferably has a nice community college to continue my education.
And by nice, I mean fairly new, or has an upgraded facility, and also has great transfer programs ![]()
You didn’t state what part of Southern Cali. Anyway, in the L.A. area Pasadena City College and Santa Monica college. Moreover, those are two extremely expensive cities, so you might have to commute.
What good colleges in southern california offer good courses on computer programming for beginners?
Just about any college, junior college, or university will offer courses. Pick the one nearest you and check their website. Look for "programming", "computers", and "information technology".
Southern California colleges, your thoughts and experiences?
I’m visiting these colleges:
University of San Diego
Whittier College
Pitzer College
Pomona College
Soka University
Chapman University
Cal. State Channel Islands
Any thoughts or personal experiences would be great!!
By Pomona I meant one of the one of the 7 sister schools
Obviously some of the other answerers are unfamiliar with the Claremont Colleges and don’t realize that Pitzer and Pomona are among them. These are by far the best of the schools you have listed. U. of San Diego is reasonably good, but it is very conservatively Catholic, which is fine if that is something which interests you, and I’ve heard from friends whose children looked at the school that the students seemed very spoiled. Beyond that, Chapman has improved a lot over the past few years, but still has a way to go, and Whittier has never been terribly good. CSU Channel Islands is one of the weaker CSUs, and having lived most of my life in Southern California (and as an academic), I’ve never heard of Soka University, so I would say that would be a major mistake.
