I am visiting California this Friday and wanted to see which colleges I should tour.
I have seen:
USC
UC Irvine
Passed by UCLA. Going to tour there.
I am thinking of looking at:
Pepperdine
Occidental
UCSD
UC Santa Barbara
University of San Diego
Any other suggestions? I am thinking of majoring in something business or political science related.
Also, I am visiting Northern Cal next month. Which to look there? Berkeley?
Of the colleges you listed, UC Santa Barbara has more of a reputation as a "party" school, and not so much for academics.
In Nor Cal, Berkley is an ultra, ultra liberal school. Otherwise if you can afford it add Stanford, and most of the area U C schools.
Just a suggestion. If you are going for a Baccalaureate Degree, or higher, you can save a ton of money by taking the Freshman & Sophomore years at any of our fine community colleges. Just make sure that all the classes you need will transfer to the U C School you plan to graduate from. Even with paying the out of state tuition rates you will still save a bundle (less student loans to repay).

In NorCal, check out Stanford and Bezerkley, er, Berkeley.
Take a good look at Oxy. Years ago, when I attended, I met this long-haired dude from Hawaii who hung out around Haines Hall… name of Barry Obama. He transferred to Columbia, and went on to become the 44th President of the United States.

Pepperdine is a beautiful but expensive private school, its located in Malibu. Its definitely worth checking out!
UCSD is one of the top rated UC’s next to UCB & UCLA. Great weather, located in La Jolla, but the campus is kind of boring. UCSD has a really good poly sci program.
UCSB is definitely a party school. Located right on the beach. Going there will give you the whole college experience.
Occidental & USD are also great colleges but I don’t know much about them.
If your considering majoring in polysci, look into UCB, LA, or SD.
Berkeley is obviously the top ranked UC. I’ve heard that Berkeley is a really liberal area
Maybe you should have a look at UCSC while your up in NorCal, although its not the best UC out there, it has a gorgeous backdrop of the ocean & the woods, and everyone gets high there..haha

I am pretty partial to Oxy myself, but in that same vein is the Claremont College group (Pitzer, Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Claremont, etc–its a group of smaller colleges making up a larger school–like the British system).
